This year, the Kiwanis International organization will turn 104 years old. It started in Detroit as a group of businessmen who sought to create a fraternal organization with a health benefit feature. Today, the organization looks much different. Kiwanis spans many different countries and focuses on “changing the world, one child and one community at a time.”

Just as the international organization has evolved and changed so has our local organization. Chartered May 23, 1990, our organization has hosted brat stands, cleaned parks, given scholarships and donations to many in the area and so much more. Most recently, the group fundraised and solicited local donations to purchase exercise equipment in Florence Park to promote a healthier community.

Now that our Florence Park project has been cemented, we are searching for a new project to champion for the Sauk Prairie area. The best projects are ones that come directly from the communities we serve. They are areas of new challenge or opportunity. Our group seeks to have a local impact and it’s only right that the community should be able to point us in the right direction. For possible ideas, email info@saukprairiekiwanis.club.

If you are passionate about your idea or about serving our community, consider joining our group. We meet twice and month and in addition to having a good time, we all enjoy giving back and performing acts of service.
