The Sauk Prairie Twins remain atop the Northern West Division as the Home Talent regular season enters its final month.

The Twins, who held a 3-2 third-inning lead when Sunday’s game at Middleton was postponed due to rain, sit at 7-1 in Sunday League action heading into Tuesday night’s matchup with Wisconsin Dells. Tuesday’s game kicks off a busy week that also includes home games against Middleton and Cross Plains on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

The Twins, who are midway through their 16-game Sunday League schedule, are at least two games clear of the rest of the Northern West in the loss column. Mazomanie sits in second place with an 8-3 record, while Reedsburg is 6-4, Cazenovia is 1-9 and Wisconsin Dells is 0-10.

Sauk Prairie’s lone Sunday League loss was a 12-2 defeat at Reedsburg on June 17.

Twins fall at Muscoda in Night League

Sauk Prairie dropped a pitchers’ duel in Night League action, suffering a 2-1 loss at unbeaten Muscoda on June 28.

Muscoda scored a run in the first inning and held on thanks to a solid pitching effort from Trevor Troxel, who gave up one run in a complete game on the mound. Jacob Pape kept Sauk Prairie in it, tallying nine strikeouts while allowing just two hits in six innings of work.

Muscoda scored in the fifth inning to grab a 2-0 lead before Sauk Prairie got on the board with a run in the top of the seventh. The Twins threatened extra innings, but Troxel worked out of the seventh to give Muscoda the win.

Joah Carlson and Alex Mayer each went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Twins, while Pape drove in Connor Leister for Sauk Prairie’s lone run of the night.

Sauk Prairie fell to 3-2 in the Night League West Division, while Muscoda remained unbeaten at 5-0. Muscoda had been scoring 9.3 runs per game during its 4-0 start.

The Twins won’t play a Night League game until they host Reedsburg on July 12.
