Jake Vieth shot an 86 to lead Sauk Prairie at the 2018 Badger Conference meet at the House on the Rock Golf Course in Spring Green.

The Sauk Prairie High School boys golf team opened the 2019 season with an eighth-place finish at the two-day Wisconsin Dells Invitational last weekend.

The Eagles finished with a four-player team score of 523 over the course of 27 holes, placing eighth out of 12 Division 1 teams. Middleton won the title with 433 strokes, followed by Holmen (460) and Waunakee (460).

Sauk Prairie shot 178 on the first day of the meet — nine holes at Trappers Golf Course on April 5. The Eagles came back Saturday and shot a 345 on 18 holes at Coldwater Canyon Golf Course.

Kip Sullivan shot a 38 at Trappers Turn and a 64 at Coldwater Canyon to claim individual medalist honors.

Jake Vieth led the way for Sauk Prairie. The senior tallied a two-day score of 124, shooting a 46 Friday and a 78 Saturday. Aaron Frey added a 130, while Spencer Breunig shot a 136 and Spencer Lacour shot a 152.

Stoughton Invitational

The Eagles shot a 373 to take sixth out of 12 teams at Monday’s Stoughton Invitational.

Verona claimed the title with 330 strikes, while Edgerton (341), McFarland (345), Monona Grove (356) and Milton (367) rounded out the top five.

Verona’s Ryan Mirwald won individual medalist honors with a 76 on the par-71 Stoughton Country Club.

Vieth paced Sauk Prairie with an 83, followed by Tyler Ramaker (96), Breunig (96) and Frey (98).

Badger North mini-meet

The Eagles got off to a fast start in the Badger North Conference season, placing fourth out of eight teams at Tuesday’s Badger North mini-meet at Norsk Golf Club in Mount Horeb.

The Eagles tallied 356 strokes to finish behind Reedsburg (326), Mount Horeb (319) and Waunakee (319), which won a tiebreaker to claim the title. Mount Horeb’s Kasen Fager and Ben Leis shot a 77, as did Waunakee’s Ryan Johnson.

Vieth shot an 88 over 18 holes on the par-36, nine-hole golf course. Frey and Breunig each chipped in an 89, while Lacour rounded out the scoring with a 90.

Tuesday was the first of four Badger North mini-meets this season. Sauk Prairie will get back on the course Thursday for an invitational at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove.
