The Sauk Prairie High School track and field teams finished in the middle of the pack at Tuesday’s home triangular.

The Eagles boys and girls teams both placed second at the Sauk Prairie triangular, while Baraboo won both meets.

The Sauk Prairie boys nearly took the title, scoring 65 points while Baraboo finished with 68. The girls meet was more lopsided, with Baraboo and Sauk Prairie scoring 103 points and 46 points, respectively. Mount Horeb tallied 53 points in the boys meet and 37 points in the girls meet.

The Sauk Prairie boys put together five first-place finishes on the night.

P.J. Lane cleared 11 feet, six inches to claim the pole vault title, while teammate Phillip Geiselman took second by clearing 10-0.

The Eagles also took the top-two spots in the 1,600-meter run. Hudson Haas placed first in 4 minutes, 47.3 seconds, followed immediately by Camden Desroches (4:47.5).

Desroches and Haas flipped roles in the 800, with Desroches (2:09.9) taking first and Haas (2:13.4) finishing second.

The Eagles excelled in the distance events, as Dalton Zirbel (10:44.9) and Casey Vande Hey (11:17.6) placed first and third, respectively, in the 3,200.

Sedric McCann crossed the finish line in 16.9 seconds to win the 110-meter hurdles ahead of Baraboo’s Isaac Brewer (:17.6).

Ruby Sandeman put together two first-place finishes for the Sauk Prairie girls. The sophomore won the long jump with a mark of 16-2.5 and the triple jump with a mark of 33-5.75. Samantha Marx added a third-place finish in the triple jump (31-11).

Grace Williams took first in the pole vault (8-0). Sauk Prairie’s other first-place finish came in the girls 4x200-meter relay, as the Eagles crossed the line in 2:00.7 to beat out Mount Horeb (2:02.6).

Other top-three individual finishes for Sauk Prairie came from Ethan Gibbs in the boys long jump (second, 18-10) and the 200 (third, :24.4), Blake Gibbs in the boys triple jump (second, 38-5), Kassia Marquardt in the 1,600 (second, 5:58.0) and the 3,200 (second, 13.23.9), Alexa Judd in the girls discus (second, 81-1), Connor Warren in the boys discus (third, 117-9), Garrett Hertzfeldt in the boys shot put (third, 43-4), Jo Smet in the boys 100 meters (third, :11.9), Cameron Tucker in the boys 400 (third, :56.7), Hannah Kruckman in the girls high jump (third, 4-8), Cora Dunnum in the girls shot put (third, 28-1.25), Grace Breunig in the 100-meter dash (third, :14.2) and Emily Herbrand in the 800 (third, 2:43.5).

The Eagles will compete in Baraboo Relays on Friday.
