When is a No. 2 seed a No. 3 seed, and vice versa? Apparently on the first National Invitation Tournament bracket.
The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team was announced as a No. 3 seed in the lower left bracket for the NIT during Sunday's selection show. The initial brackets also showed the Badgers as a No. 3.
Oops.
The NIT unveiled reworked brackets later Sunday that corrected the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds in all four quadrants.
So the Badgers actually are the No. 2 seed in a bracket that includes No. 1 Oregon, No. 3 Liberty and No. 4 Florida. That means that UW will host a second-round game Sunday against either Liberty or Villanova if it defeats Bradley in a game scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kohl Center.
