After being shutout in three of its five previous games, the Wisconsin Dells softball team combined for 18 runs in a pair of South Central Conference wins.

Wisconsin Dells steamrolled to an 11-0 win in five innings over Nekoosa on Thursday, May 10 before knocking off Adams-Friendship 7-3 on Tuesday. Against the Papermakers, the Chiefs (8-6, 7-3 South Central) used an eight-run second inning to seize control early on.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first, a pair of RBI singles by juniors Grace Myklebust and Bethany Smith pushed the Chiefs’ lead to 3-0. Wisconsin Dells then blew the game wide open with a three-run triple by freshman Kayla Gray to go up 6-0 before adding three more runs to take a 9-0 lead.

Wisconsin Dells added two more runs in the fourth on back-to-back singles by juniors Katelyn Meister and Madyson Voigt to go up 11-0 before closing things out in the top of the fifth. Gray went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs while Voigt went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Chiefs at the plate.

Freshman pitcher Gracie Walker was strong in the circle, allowing no runs on three hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in the complete game win.

Wisconsin Dells 7, Adams-Friendship 3

The Chiefs used another big early inning against the Green Devils, as a six-run third inning gave Wisconsin Dells an early lead that it never let up.

After loading the bases with no outs, an Adams-Friendship error allowed a pair of Chiefs to score for a 2-0 lead. Wisconsin Dells added four more runs with two outs, including a bases clearing double by Maddie Jones, to take a 6-0 lead.

Wisconsin Dells added another run in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by junior Haley Lukasavage, before the Green Devils scored three in the bottom half before the Chiefs put things away. Miester went 2-for4, including a triple, to lead the Chiefs at the plate, while Walker fanned 14 and allowed one earned run on four hits with two walks in another complete game win.
