Caelan Tourdot has been a major factor in the last two years for the Wisconsin Dells volleyball team, helping the Chiefs capture back-to-back South Central Conference titles.
The senior was rewarded for those efforts when she was recently named the league’s Player of the Year for the 2018 season when the conference released its season-ending awards.
Tourdot was one of five players to earn All-Conference honors for a Chiefs team that went 9-1 in league play to win its second-straight SCC title.
Wisconsin Dells, which went 20-15 overall and saw its season come to an end with a three-set loss to McFarland in a Division 2 regional semifinal, again relied on Tourdot on the offensive side of things.
The three-time all-conference pick racked up a team-high 214 kills, including a .247 hitting percentage.
Tourdot however added to her repertoire as she took on a key role as setter, dishing out 204 assists on the year, good for second-most on the team. Along with her offensive stats, Tourdot served up a team-high 64 aces on the year and added 187 digs and 44 blocks.
Tourdot wasn’t alone on the first team however, as she was joined by fellow senior Jamie Pfeifer.
The 6-foot-2 middle blocker earned all-conference honors for a second-straight time as she was the Chiefs’ go-to target in the middle.
Pfeifer finished second in kills behind Tourdot with 169, including a 35.7 kill percentage. Defensively, she did the most damage with 126 blocks, including a team-high 113 solo stuffs. Pfeifer added 68 digs and 34 aces.
Coupled with the first team honorees, the senior trio of Kennedy Hickey, Grace Myklebust and Madyson Voigt each earned second team honors. It was Hickey’s second-straight year earning second team recognition, while it was the first for both Myklebust and Voigt.
Hickey was one of the Chiefs’ top back line players, as the 5-6 libero accounted for a team-high 352 digs.
Along with her defensive prowess, Hickey had an impact from the service line as she had 18 aces and added 48 assists.
Joining Pfeifer at the net was Myklebust, as the 6-2 middle blocker/hitter made life difficult for opposing teams. Myklebust came close to hitting triple-digits in blocks, contributing a second-best 96, including 72 solo blocks.
She added 137 kills (.208 hitting percentage), 58 digs and 16 aces.
Teaming with Hickey, Voigt was one of the team’s top backline players, as the defensive specialist finished with a second-best 246 digs. Voigt also made an impact from the service line, putting down 35 aces on the year, good for third-most on the team, including a team-high 96.9 serve percentage.
