Bella Goose Coffee will no longer open a coffee shop in Maurer’s Market in spring of 2019. The project has experienced an “unforeseen delay” with financing, putting it on hold until at least the fall of 2019.

“We hope to revisit the construction project in the fall,” Bella Goose owner Alison Heesch said. “We were all moving quickly and confirming plans when we heard the disappointing news. We certainly look forward to an eventual collaboration of our two locally owned companies.”

The Bella Goose Coffee location at 744 Eddy St. in downtown Wisconsin Dells will now serve as a full shop. Original plans for the location called for the Maurer’s Market location to serve a full menu, while the Eddy St. location would serve as a “craft roasting experience.” The Eddy St. location will still offer coffee beans, tours, demonstrations, teach individuals how to roast coffee at home, sell limited batches of coffee, and will now also have a full menu.

As part of the project, Maurer’s Market was scheduled to construct an about 1,200 square foot expansion to the existing market to accommodate the Bella Goose Coffee shop. The addition was planned for the entrance of the market near the parking lot, and required the removal of some parking stalls and the realignment of other stalls.

Maurer’s Market owner Jeff Maurer said he is hoping to continue the construction in the fall, and the delay is likely temporary and not a cancellation of the project.

“As the leaders of Maurer’s and Bella Goose, we had to make a difficult decision to change plans,” Maurer’s Market owner Jeff Maurer said. “We were excited for the partnership, for strengthening of our businesses and our community, and are naturally disappointed that it won’t work out at this time.”

Maurer’s Market will continue to offer Bella Goose coffee beans and bakery products at the market.
