Lake Delton police responded to an attempted child abduction May 11, arriving at the scene to find the child unharmed and the perpetrator nowhere to be found.

According to a press release from the Lake Delton police department, the child’s parents awoke at approximately 3 A.M. at the sound of a noise in their child’s bedroom. When they went to investigate the sound, they found the child sitting outside their window and called the police.

“Evidence located at the scene suggested that a person had entered the home through the child’s bedroom window and likely brought the child outside the window and then fled the area,” the Delton police said in the report.

Initially, police suspected somebody known to the family, who might flee across state lines if they were made aware of the investigation. However, upon interviewing the suspect, police no longer suspected them as the culprit.

Anyone with potential further information on this case is encouraged to call the Lake Delton police department at 608-254-7571, or Sauk County Crimestoppers at 888-847-7285.
