Loren “Duct Tape” Lewis, 79, of Wisconsin Dells, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at his residence following an accident involving farm machinery.
Loren was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Wisconsin Dells the son of Lawrence and Frances (Landt) Lewis. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1957 and stayed busy with farm and agricultural work. For over 20 years he was employed by Kilbourn Co-op and proudly was on-call 24 hours a day to assist fellow farmers when the need arose, taking care of others before himself. He also was a lifetime farmer, had an individual name for each of his cows and loved all outdoor work. While in high school he had taken a European class trip and often mentioned his favorite destination was Budapest. Loren had a dry, strange sense of humor for example, his wristwatch was only correct six months of the year and he sent out cards to friends and family to celebrate Ground Hogs Day. For hobbies he had a love of tractors and was a farm toy collector.
Loren is survived by his sister, Amy (Jim) Johnson; nephews, Brian A. (Helga) Johnson and children, Althea and Miranda, Ben E. (Josie) Johnson and child, Keagan; Dan V. (Amy) Johnson and children, Amber and Emma and Greg S. Johnson of Ireland. Besides his family, Loren also left behind many best friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life memorial gathering will be held at Loren’s residence, W14273 Lewis Road, Wisconsin Dells, Sunday, Oct. 8, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
