Coralee “Cora” Zamzow, 76, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019.
Cora was born April 3, 1942 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Mark and Mildred (Downing) Burris. She grew up in Lake Delton, and attended the Dells area schools.
In February of 1959 she married Richard Zamzow and was involved in businesses with her husband in the Dells and Baraboo area for 40 years. She took a little time off and returned to managing the Wilderness Gift Shops. She kind of embraced the title, “the hostess with the mostest.”
Cora loved to cook, bake and read. You could always count on dinner at moms no matter what. Her red velvet cake and soups will be truly missed. She was a leader in girl scouts, loved to bowl, play cards and followed her children in all their events. Her love of family was her passion and sharing stories about each and everyone was sure to bring a laugh or too.
Cora is dearly loved by her family. She leaves behind her loving husband, Richard; son, Rich (Lori) Zamzow of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughters, Jackie Zamzow (Scott Holzem), Terri (Tom) Lucke, Markee (Phil) Galvano all from Wisconsin Dells; grandchildren, Laurel, Markee Jo, Lindsey, Jamie, Laddie, Willie, Johnny, Zachary and Katlin, Lisa and Lindsey; 10 great grandchildren; and sisters, Lynn Capener and Donna (William) Michael both of Wisconsin Dells.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Burris; sisters, Elaine Warner and Beverly Pikel; and a beloved grandson, Philip Galvano.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held from noon to 3 p.m. April 13, 2019 at Wildrock Golf Course Club House, 856 Canyon Road, Wisconsin Dells. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the United Methodist Church of Wisconsin Dells.
