Joan Marie “Maggie” Donnelly, 87, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at Our House Senior Living in Wisconsin Dells.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Joan was born May 19, 1931, the daughter of Harry and Lillian (Nelson) Anderson, on the old Ringling Farm, south of Lake Delton. Joan attended the Tofson grade school and Wisconsin Dells High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Donnelly at St. Cecelia’s on Oct. 22, 1949. Together they owned and operated River Bay Marina and Campground for 25 years until they sold it in 1983. They then owned the Wagon Wheel Bar and Restaurant in Wonewoc for three years. Joan enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and snowmobiling.
Joan is survived by her husband, Don; son, David (Terri) Donnelly of Wisconsin Dells; daughter, Sharon (Tony) Leslie of Neenah; brothers, Julian Anderson of Norfolk, Virginia, and Dennis (Rebecca) Anderson of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Jamie (Andy) Murphy, Erin (Carl) Wickre, both of Portage, and Kevin (Katie) Donnelly of Wisconsin Dells; great-grandchildren, Nora, Cole, Nolan and Reece; sister-in-law, Donna Anderson; her faithful dog, Paddy; and many family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Susan; brother, Lloyd; infant brother, David; and sister, Penny Hilley.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Our House, as well as Agrace Hospice.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name, may be made to St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church.
