Robert Wallace, 84, of Oxford, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at University Hospital, Madison.
Memorial services were held at noon Monday, Nov. 26, at Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, with the Rev. Steven Keller officiating.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon Monday, at Picha Funeral Home.
Robert was born March 20, 1934, in Auburn, New York, the son of George and Gertrude (Knapp) Wallace. He began serving with the Navy at the age of 17, from 1951 until 1955. He worked with the postal services for 32 years, eventually becoming Postmaster in 1979, and retiring in 1989. Robert married Janet Frank on Dec. 28, 1991. He enjoyed bowling, and was an avid softball player all the way up to senior softball. He was also a member of the American Legion in Wisconsin Dells.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Gary Wallace of Wisconsin Dells; daughters, Kathleen (Harvey) Kost, Lou Ann (Timothy) Uttke, both of South Milwaukee, Dawn (Victor) Noble of Phoenix, Arizona, Deeann (Matt) Persino of Reesburg, Dinah (Tom) of Hatfield; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; son, James; and step-daughter, Deborah.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that donations be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
