Adams St., Lake Delton, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Wayne was born June 26, 1942, in Portage, the son of Gerald and Florence (Anderson) Oeftger. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1962, and then enlisted into the United States Navy in 1963. He served his country as a welder in naval shipyards. He was honorably discharged in 1967, and began his working career as a repairman for General Telephone and Electronics. He retired from GTE after 32 years. He married Donna Newman on Aug. 1, 1970, and this family was blessed with four children. Wayne enjoyed being with family and friends, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. From cutting wood to being out on the pontoon, he loved the outdoors and “God’s Country” (Wisconsin). Wayne also loved to travel with his family all over the country and with his wife Donna after her retirement. Their trips together included nine cruises all over the world stepping foot on six out of seven continents, many months spent in Florida, and much of their free time was spent in Three Lakes and Eagle River.

Wayne is survived by sons, Chad (Jenni) of Neenah, Matthew (Amy) of Wisconsin Dells and Justin (Katie) of Monona; daughter, Tiffany (Darrin) Schuette of Kiel; and his grandchildren, Graham, Madison, Megan, Mariana, Mya, Minka, Max and William. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; and a sister, Marlea Austin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to be used later at the discretion of the family would be appreciated. A special thank you goes out to Wayne’s doctor, Dr. Randy Krszjzaniek for being a great doctor to him over the years and to the staff at St. Clare Meadows for all the loving support and exceptional care provided for Wayne.
