Wisconsin Dells will hold its Fall Wine Walk on Oct. 20, building upon the success of the 7-year-old Downtown Dells Wine Walk held in the spring.
The spring wine walk set new highs for the number of businesses participating with 23, the number of tickets sold at about 600, and sold out of tickets in 11 minutes.
According to Jenifer Dobbs, festival organizer, participants in the spring wine walk submitted answers to a research questionnaire when buying tickets which showed a large amount of support for an additional wine walk.
“More than 95 percent of people wanted another wine walk in the fall,” said Dobbs. “We wanted to give people another chance to attend since that sold out so quickly.”
This season’s event will feature 19 downtown retailers and restaurants, with ticket holders able to sample red and white wine along with hors d’oeuvres. Every participant receives a commemorative wine glass when checking in and a booklet listing each wine. Both the ducks and the Wisconsin Dells taxi will serve as a shuttle for people attending the event.
Tickets went on sale beginning Sept. 1 and cost $40. The event begins at 3 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. Oct. 20 in downtown Wisconsin Dells, and ticket holders can get their wine glass and check-in between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau, 701 Superior Street, Wisconsin Dells.
The event is open to adults age 21 and older, and a photo ID presented in person is required to pick up a wristband. For more information or to buy tickets, visit wisdells.ticketspice.com/fall-wine-walk-2018. A limited number of tickets are still available.
“We want to create an overnight event where people stay in the hotels, go shopping, eat lunch and dinner and breakfast in the morning,” said Dobbs. “This event is profit free, we put everything back into the event.”
