Another early lead was too much for the Wisconsin Dells Rivermen to overcome on May 11 as they suffered an 8-2 loss to Ashton in a Home Talent Baseball Northern Section game at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Wisconsin Dells.
Dylan Stein went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Rivermen, who committed five errors in the loss. Ashton wasted little time getting on the board, as the A’s struck for three runs in the top of the first inning.
Wisconsin Dells (1-2) hung tough though as it kept the A’s off the board the next five innings before getting on the board. The Rivermen pushed across runs in the fifth and sixth to pull within 3-2 but never got closer as Ashton cut the wind from their sails in the top of the seventh. The A’s scored five runs to extend the lead to six and Wisconsin Dells was held scoreless the rest of the way.
Corey Rosol gave up three unearned runs on six hits with four strikeouts in six innings of work. Wisconsin Dells will look to snap its two-game skid when it heads to Plain on Sunday.
