The Wisconsin Dells boys golf team’s regular-season dominance of the South Central Conference continued on Tuesday, as the Chiefs beat Mauston by 20 shots to win the conference meet, and the league’s overall conference championship at the Sentry World Golf Course in Stevens Point.

Wisconsin Dells finished the season with three players on the five-player All-SCC first team, including freshman Caden Jacobson, who finished second at Tuesday’s conference meet with a 7-over-par 79. Joining Jacobson on the SCC’s first team for Wisconsin Dells were freshman Grant Marsich and junior Riley Eck. Marsich finished third on Tuesday with an 8-over 80, while Eck was sixth with a 16-over 88.

Jacobson and Eck recorded the only birdies of the day for Wisconsin Dells, both carding 4s on the par-5 fifth hole.

Recording Wisconsin Dells’ fourth score on Tuesday was Riley Hess with a 99, giving the Chiefs a team score of 346. Mauston finished second with 366, while Wautoma/Wild Rose was third with a 371.

Tuesday’s result gave Wisconsin Dells, which won five of the six SCC mini meets during the season, 47 points in the final conference standings. Mauston was a distant second with 38 points.

Chiefs 3rd in Reedsburg

Wisconsin Dells played in the Reedsburg Invitational on Friday, and finished in third place out of eight teams in Division 2. The Chiefs shot a 349, finishing 17 shots behind Division 2 champion Platteville, and just two shots behind runner-up Osseo-Fairchild.

Leading Wisconsin Dells on Friday was Jacobson with an 8-over 80, while Marsich had a 13-over 85 and Eck had a 17-over 89. Ethan Luther rounded out the scores with a 95.

Wisconsin Dells finished the SCC mini meet season by shooting a 173 to win the Westfield mini meet by eight shots over Wautoma/Wild Rose on Thursday.

Leading the Chiefs in Westfield was Marsich with a 5-over 40, while Eck and Luther both carded 9-over 44s, followed by Jacobson’s 10-over 45.

Wisconsin Dells will now shift its focus to the Division 2 Adams-Friendship Regional, which will be played Tuesday at the Northern Bay Golf Club in Arkdale. Teams and players will be trying to advance onto the Division 2 Prairie du Chien Sectional, which will be played Tuesday, May 28 at the Prairie du Chien Country Club.
