The Wisconsin Dells girls golf team had a breakthrough performance at Tuesday’s Gale-Ettrick-Trempealau Invitational, finishing in second place, 23 shots behind meet-champion Onalaska.
Leading Wisconsin Dells to a team score of 394 was Riley Lange, who finished in fifth place overall with a 25-over-par 96. Finishing sixth overall, and as the second golfer for the Chiefs, was Maura Alvarez with a 26-over 97.
Other top scores for Wisconsin Dells on Tuesday included a 100 from Kayla Gray and a 101 from Allison Anderson.
Chiefs drop Portage
In an 18-hole, non-conference match against Portage on Monday, Wisconsin Dells picked up a 407-410 victory over the Warriors at the Wild Rock Golf Club.
Leading the Chiefs in the win was sophomore Gracie Walker, who shot a 25-over-par 97. Rounding out the top four scores for the Chiefs on Monday were Allison Anderson with a 103, Maura Alvarez with a 103 and Kayla Gray with a 104.
Portage sophomore Sophie Denure had the low round of the day with an 86, but it wasn’t enough for the Warriors to reel in the Chiefs.
