The road wasn’t too friendly for the Dells Ducks, as they were swept by the first-place Hudson Havoc in a weekend series at the Hudson Civic Center, losing 4-1 on Saturday night before dropping a 4-3 overtime decision on Sunday.

In Saturday’s loss, the Ducks were forced to play from behind after the Havoc scored a pair of first period goals, with Case Moioffer scoring just under 4 minutes into the game, and then Dylan Marty scoring at 11:55 to make it 2-0.

Hudson took a 3-0 lead with a goal from Charlie Skinner just 45 seconds in the second period.

The Ducks finally got the scoreboard when Jeffrey Rebmann scored his fifth of the season at 13:10 of the third period, but that would be the only goal of the night for the Dells. Hudson would put the Ducks on ice with Max Wigfield’s 15th goal with just over a minute left in the game.

Emil Norrman stopped 22 of the 26 shots he faced and took the loss in net for the Ducks.

The Ducks found some scoring punch in Sunday’s game, scoring a trio of power play goals, but another poor start and then a Havoc goal just 1:36 into overtime gave Hudson a 4-3 victory and a series sweep.

Hudson took a 2-0 lead in Sunday’s tilt with a pair of early goals, including one from Logan Starkey just 1:18 into the game. Dells cut the lead in half when Jason Heard scored an unassisted power play goal with just 3 seconds left in the opening period.

Hudson’s lead grew to 3-1 with Dylan Marty’s 13th goal at 2:25 of the third period, but the Ducks mounted a rally to force overtime. Nolan Echols scored his eighth of the season on the power play off an assist from Spencer Butler to make it 3-2 with 6:49 left in the game. The Ducks would get the equalizer when Jacob Richardson scored on the power play – his 11th of the season – with 1:00 left in regulation.

In overtime, Hudson clinched the series sweep when Chris Dusek scored 1:36 into the extra session.

Kevin Berg played in net for the Ducks in Sunday’s loss and stopped 33 of the 37 shots he faced.

The Ducks are currently in seventh place in the USPHL Premier’s nine-team Mid West West Division with a 13-20-1-0 record.

The two losses extended the Dells losing streak to four games. The Ducks will try to end the skid with a home-and-home weekend series with the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings. The two teams will play at the Poppy Waterman Arena in Lake Delton on Friday at 7 p.m. The series will finish up on Saturday at 7 p.m. up at the South Wood County Recreation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

This weekend’s games will be the final games between the Ducks and Riverkings this season. Wisconsin Rapids won the two other meetings this season.
